There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a prime spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is real of most borders.
The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat casino, contains one hundred and fifty slots and sixty table games. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that features a number of amenities on top of the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
