The actual number of Kyrgyzstan casinos is something in a little doubt. As information from this state, out in the very most central section of Central Asia, can be hard to achieve, this may not be too surprising. Whether there are 2 or three approved gambling dens is the element at issue, maybe not quite the most consequential bit of info that we do not have.
What no doubt will be true, as it is of the majority of the old Soviet nations, and absolutely truthful of those in Asia, is that there will be many more not allowed and bootleg market gambling dens. The change to acceptable wagering didn’t energize all the aforestated places to come out of the illegal into the legal. So, the controversy over the number of Kyrgyzstan’s gambling dens is a minor one at best: how many legal ones is the thing we are seeking to reconcile here.
We are aware that located in Bishkek, the capital metropolis, there is the Casino Las Vegas (a remarkably original title, don’t you think?), which has both gaming tables and video slots. We will also see both the Casino Bishkek and the Xanadu Casino. Each of these have 26 one armed bandits and 11 table games, divided between roulette, chemin de fer, and poker. Given the amazing similarity in the size and setup of these 2 Kyrgyzstan gambling halls, it might be even more surprising to find that they share an address. This seems most astonishing, so we can likely state that the list of Kyrgyzstan’s gambling halls, at least the authorized ones, stops at 2 members, 1 of them having adjusted their title recently.
The state, in common with almost all of the ex-USSR, has experienced something of a fast adjustment to free-enterprise system. The Wild East, you may say, to refer to the anarchical conditions of the Wild West an aeon and a half ago.
Kyrgyzstan’s gambling halls are actually worth going to, therefore, as a piece of anthropological analysis, to see dollars being bet as a form of communal one-upmanship, the conspicuous consumption that Thorstein Veblen talked about in 19th century u.s..
